April 27Crystal Miller

Crystal Miller will move you with the music that moves her. That’s why, when you hear Crystal, you hear the combination of ALL of her musical experiences. When asked which genre of music she prefers, she’ll tell you, “That’s like asking a woman to choose one favorite pair of shoes–it’s virtually impossible!!–different genres speak to me for different reasons”–like the memories of the R&B, Pop and Rock of her youth, to the stories and harmonies of Country and Bluegrass, to the impassioned lyrics and sensual, soul-affirming rhythms of the Latin music that she’s grown to love performing. Crystal combines those beats and rhythms with jazz sensibilities. She’s an alum of the Nashville Jazz Workshop and has spent years honing her craft with various bands both locally and abroad.

May 18Roz Thompson

Roz Thompson is a versatile vocalist who has recorded with CeCe Winans, Donna Summer, 4Him and toured the world with legends, the likes of Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck. She also performed the Tony Award-winning role of Aunt Em and Glenda the Good Witch Of The South in the musical “The Wiz.” Thompson has been featured on “The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson” as the supporting act for the Smothers Brothers, Bob Newhart, Bill Cosby, and many others. Music critic Frank Lieberman described Roz as a “gusty songstress loaded with soul, savvy and style with an amazingly versatile talent.”

June 15Paula James Chavis

Paula James Chavis defies a musical category. She has certifiable pop and R&B credentials who can nail an Ellington or Basie tune. She attributes her love of music to her father and his record collection. She spent her early years listening with her dad at home to Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Nancy Wilson and Nat King Cole. Later she added pop and soul, but jazz was always the foundation. In the 1980’s she teamed up with bassist John Birdsong and later Sam Levine. She has performed in radio and TV commercials, background vocals (with Kenny Rogers), stage productions and even a Super Bowl for Kids half-time appearance! Growing up in Nashville, Paula graduated from Pearl High School and started her singing career at the age of four when she sang at the historic Episcopal Church in downtown Nashville, the Church of the Holy Trinity.
